Pipework
The display pipes were removed for polishing and reconditioning.
Soundboards
The Soundboards were completely dismantled to tables and bars, any splits were filled, plugged and screwed with windways flooded. Tables and Upper Boards were regrooved and planed true. Slider seals were installed where appropriate. New cloth was fitted underneath the bars, and the tables and upper boards varnished. The pallets were recovered with felt and leather and the guards, guides and springs replaced and reset.
The Drawstop Actions
The old pneumatic machines were the source of much of the undesirable noise and were replaced with modern Heuss solenoids and controls. These are fitted - one to each slide and have their own control of pull strength speed etc. They have no leather or other perishable component and are completely silent and reliable.
The Soundboard Underactions
The existing underactions were completely replaced with a new electrically operated direct solenoid action using Heuss motors specifically designed for this task. Their strength and operating pull are infinitely adjustable and, like the slider solenoids, are completely silent. All the former multistage actions and pneumatic motors therefore are all replaced as part of the factory rebuild of the soundboards.
The Chests and off note Chests
All the other remaining chests were taken to Slovenia and repaired.
The Console
New UHT keys which have regulated top resistance were installed and all the Stop Tablets replaced with new Heuss ones. The UHT keyboards with their tracker feel touch are admired by distinguished players worldwide. They have no contacts – again in the interests of longevity.
A more classical departmental arrangement has been used for the new console, with the piston setting display appearing in the centre of the console along with a generous array of general pistons.
Swell Box and shutters
These were repaired, refelted as required and the existing highly effective linkage system was refurnished, regulated and cleaned as required.
Casework and Display Pipes
The pipes in display were polished and any dents removed. All casework parts were cleaned and polished and the main console outer case was sanded down and polished.
Tonal Finishing and Completion
Finally the organ was reinstalled and voiced by Skrabl’s expert craftsmen.
